Power Cut
A downloadable game for Windows
Don't worry, it's just a power cut
This is our first ever effort for a game jam. We hit roadblocks along the way but we still managed to put together something playable, though we didn't hit all the marks, we still think we put up a good run!
(Work in progress | unfinished)
The aim would have been to solve some puzzles and navigate a psychological horror experience where Nothing Can Go Wrong.. but does anyways! The aim would have been to reset the breaker after a power cut, and whilst navigating the level a series of psychological horror events were planned to take place randomly for a different experience each play through.
This would have included events such as flickering lights, items moving by themselves, items changing at random, ghostly encounters (such as figures only visible in mirrors and shadows only visible in mirrors), moving shadows.. all set to make the player question if what they were seeing was real or their mind playing tricks on them.
Some of the functionality was achieved and implemented - try going to the bed and looking in the mirror, or check out the item on the table in the corridor... other functionality was created but didn't quite get implemented just yet.
A Psychological Horror Game | Developed in Unreal Engine 5
Overview
This project, developed in Unreal Engine 5, is part of Brackeys 2025.1 week long game Jam with the theme "Nothing Can Go Wrong". The game sees the player endure a light's out scenario, home alone where events unfold and test the players sanity.
Challenges
Grab a flashlight and find the breaker
Pyschological horror elements to overcome - not a jump-scare-a-thon
Find and fix the problem with the lights / circuit breaker
Escape with your life
Note : We didn't build the Assets they came from FAB. We did the C++ code and Blue Prints. We all met in a C++ class for Unreal Engine. This was our first practice Game JAM.
